Choosing the Perfect Gift for a Baby Shower
Of all of the events my girlfriend is invited to, she loves baby showers the most. There is something about her and babies that she can't get enough of. She loves how the mother's are all glowing and full of life. It's also a chance for everyone to get together and share happy moments. Plus, it's an excuse to go shopping for presents.

Baby shower gifts are pretty easy to shop for once you get a basic idea of what you're shopping for. You need to remember that it's the baby you're shopping for and not the mother. As much as she may appreciate the gift, it is a baby shower after all.

Gifts for the new baby can be found in all different price ranges. They can be simple or elegant, traditional or creative and personal. If you choose a gift with creativity and care, you won't have any problems at all. Here is a list of some of the best things to keep in mind next time you go shopping for a baby shower gift.

  • First off, check with the registry. Many popular stores are starting to see an increase in the trend of many soon moms-to-be are registering ahead of time for baby items they know they are going to need.

  • If you are already a parent, use some of your knowledge and experience as a parent. If you are not a parent, then ask someone who is. There is no one better to ask than you own mom for example.

  • Think about all of the needs the new parents will have to go shopping for. What do you think they could not live without during their first year as parents? Do they need a baby carriage, a car seat, a crib, a baby backpack or a maybe stylish diaper bag?

  • What are your spending limits? Think about how much you want to spend or how little. If you're looking not to spend anymore than $50, buy the baby an outfit or a blanket that can have a meaning for the mother. Some people choose to buy grooming kits that come with clippers, diaper ointments and shampoo.

  • If you want to get them something that is a little too pricey, go in with a bunch of other people for the gift. Have it sent once you know a baby is expected, or tell the parents what you are planning to buy them.

  • A new idea growing some buzz is child-sized jewelry. Items like name tag bracelets or bangles are becoming increasingly popular. Examples of these are a heart-shaped necklace for a girl or an ID bracelet, tie bar if it's a boy. Monogrammed items as well like silver baby mugs, baby silverware or picture frames are trendy selling gifts, as well.

  • If you're going to buy clothes, then make sure to choose clothes three months or larger in size. The baby will usually have a first outfit already and since babies grow so quickly they will outgrow that in no time. Have the cashier give you gift receipts, if possible.

  • Give the baby a savings bond.
